I Peter 2:9 reminds us, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of the darkness into his marvelous light.” The congregations, congregational leaders, and presbytery staff of Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery are dedicated to promoting three elements of healthy congregational life.
First, we are committed to helping each of our congregations form deeper, richer personal commitments to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We must encourage and build up each of those whom God sends to us as disciples.
Second, we must send these disciples back out, to proclaim the grace, peace, and mercy which are ours in Christ. To a hungry and hurting world, we must find something relevant to say and something tangible to offer. We must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the lives and ministries of each of our congregations. Then we must be bold in reaching out to those around us.
Finally, we are healthy as we live and work in community. Our congregations and their leaders are called to form vital relationships with one another as we learn afresh what it means to be a connectional Church in a disjointed, fractured world. As the early Church drew strength and encouragement from one another, we hold the hands of those across the pews and across this state as we serve a common Lord. We welcome you and invite you to come and see what God is doing in the midst of us. And we challenge you to find your place among us and within God’s claim on all of our lives.
